The photos below were provided by Claudia Moore of Claudia Moore Field Art. While the photos speak for themselves, we are just amazed by the beauty of these pieces. They really capture the essence of the creatures they represent and also demonstrate a technical skill that is rare to find! What an absolutely stunning collection. Claudia's pieces are available for sale in galleries (some are mentioned below) and she also creates commissioned pieces such as the sun/moon that is pictured on the home below. Please visit her social media to follow her and contact her if you are interested in her artwork!
Claudia has provided the following information about herself and her art:
"Self-taught, my career has evolved over 40 years from painting to metal sculpture. I utilize the beauty and versatility of copper as my medium to create strikingly life-like interpretations of the animals, birds and sea creatures of North Carolina. My style ranges from mostly naturalistic portrayals to occasional flights of creative whimsy. My passion is to capture my subject’s personality through its expression and gaze. I study my subject’s form, proportions and unique markings, then build a 3-dimensional armature of copper wire which I clad with varying thicknesses of copper sheet that’s cut, hammered and textured for the right fit. I create colors by flame-painting with a torch or by brush with acrylics and patinas. My work comes in all sizes from small ornaments, flowers and butterflies to a Great Blue Heron, a life-sized Bear Cub, a barnyard Rooster or a handsome Sea Turtle to name just a few."
